Academic Session & Admission Guidelines

Academic Session Duration

The academic session of the college normally commences on 6th of July and concludes in May every year.

Admission Procedures & Instructions

  • 1. Eligibility Scope: Admission is open to every state subject / domicile and children of Central Government employees posted in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
  • 2. Schedule Notification: The admission schedule containing detailed dates and guidelines is announced annually and published in leading newspapers well in advance.
  • 3. Online Application Portal: Candidates seeking admission to B.A. / B.Sc. Semester-I must apply online through the official portal: www.jkhighereducation.nic.in . Selection lists will be published on the portal and displayed on the college notice board. Admission proceeds only after document verification by the Admission Committee. Students must select three subject combination choices in order of preference. Change of subject combination is strictly not permissible after admission.
  • 4. Seat Intake: The number of intake seats in each subject/stream is strictly fixed as per college and university statutory guidelines.
  • 5. Reserved Category Weightage: Candidates belonging to reserved categories (as specified under SRO-126 dated 28-08-1994) shall be entitled to an additional weightage of 5% marks (30 marks out of 600) added to their aggregate score upon submission of an attested copy of the certificate.
  • 6. Prospectus & Fee Deadline: The college prospectus must be obtained against a fee of Rs. 100/-. Candidates who fail to submit forms with requisite certificates or deposit the admission fee within the stipulated timeframe will forfeit their merit position.
  • 7. Institutional Discretion: The college administration reserves the right to accept or reject any admission application without assigning any specific reason.

Mandatory Documents & Certificates Checklist

The following original testimonials along with requisite attested photocopies must be produced at the time of admission:

1 Provisional Certificate
From the institution last attended / JKBOSE (for private candidates).
2 Marks Card of Qualifying Examination
1 Original + 4 Attested Photostat copies.
3 Character Certificate
Issued by the head of institution last attended (or 1st Class Magistrate/SHO for private candidates).
4 Passport Size Photographs
Three (3) recent unattested passport-size photographs.
5 Matriculation Diploma / Date of Birth
1 Original + 2 Attested Photostat copies for DOB verification.
6 Parent Transfer Order / Certificate
For wards of Military / Paramilitary / Central Govt. employees posted in J&K.
7 Reserved Category Certificate
Valid certificate under SRO-126 (1 Original + 1 Attested copy).
8 Migration Certificate
Required for candidates migrating from boards other than JKBOSE / University of Jammu.
